Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
Surgical Services: Our surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures, including intensive orthopedic and soft tissue surgery in addition to routine surgery.
Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.
Specialist consults: We offer referrals to specialists here in Hawaii, and we utilize a nationwide network of specialists by phone and the internet. This network allows our doctors to consult with experts in fields like dermatology, cardiology, nutrition, internal medicine and oncology to provide optimal care for your pet.
Radiology Services: Our on-site X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. In addition, we often enlist the service of a board certified veterinary radiologist to review x-rays - especially in complicated cases.
Electrocardiography Services: We provide ECG services on-site as well as consultations with cardiology specialists.
Dentistry: We take dental care seriously. Our dental services include routine tooth cleaning and polishing, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery. A board certified veterinary dentist is available to perform root canals and other restorative surgery.
Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
Permanent identification: We offer AVID microchip identification to permanently identify your pet. A microchip, about the size and shape of a grain of rice, is placed under the skin just over the shoulders. AVID microchips are accepted by the State of Hawaii for quarantine requirements and are readily identified by the Hawaii Island Humane Society. We also recommend collars and tags to help identify your pet, but they can fall off - microchips are a much more reliable way for your pet to find his or her way home if lost or stolen.
Pharmacy: We maintain a complete inventory of medications, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets.
Individualized Flea and Tick Control Programs: We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas and ticks in your house, in your yard and on your pet.
Dietary Counseling: We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.
Behavioral Counseling: We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.
Boarding: We provide pet boarding as a service to patients with medical needs. All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff. Pets may be dropped off and picked up during regular business hours Monday through Saturday.
Emergency Care: We are committed to providing emergency care for pets day and night. If you have questions or concerns regarding your pet, please do not hesitate to call: Monday through Saturday, from 7am-5pm call 329-8999 and after these regular hours, contact the doctor on-call at 936-8797.
