Ali’i Veterinary Hospital is thrilled to have Joyce Clemens providing Puppy Workshops and Classes to our clients. She has exceptional qualifications, and we are excited to have her! Joyce is a master obedience trainer with certifications in multiple modalities of training and well being. She focuses on Positive Reinforcement Training to guide owners and companions toward achieving objectives. Her carefully crafted classes are designed to educate owners in the many aspects of creating healthy and happy companions.  It is important to begin building a solid foundation by teaching your dog the basic skills needed to be a well-mannered family member. Joyce can be an invaluable resource to guide you through any difficulty you may encounter with your pets behavior.

Puppy Workshop: One time, one hour class for puppies to socialize with other pups and people and to learn a few basic training concepts in a carefully disinfected area.

Puppy Kindergarten: Two one-hour classes to start basic training. If any attendees are under 16 weeks of age and not fully vaccinated, class will be held on a disinfected surface for safety. 

Basic Manners: Six one-hour classes.  Requires completion of Puppy Kindergarten or similar basic training class. This class is also o.k. for untrained adult dogs.

Socialization: It is important to get your puppy used to new people, animals and experiences in a safe environment.

Handling:  Your pet should be comfortable with you examining his/her mouth, ears, paws and other sensitive areas.

Housetraining: Learn the skills to teach your dog the appropriate spot to eliminate. Positive reinforcement, proper timing and consistency are key elements. Success will be achieved once you have the right tools and techniques. 

Leash training: Proper leash selection and handling is important to keep your pet safely under control.

Basic obedience: It is important to develop proper communication with your dog so he/she can better understand your expectations. This not only strengthens your bond but builds confidence resulting in a happy, healthier pet.
