Alii Veterinary Hospital

Dr. Aaron Lorshbough:

Dr. Aaron graduated from Oregon State University in 1995, then completed a small animal internship with an emphasis in general practice and emergency medicine in Akron, Ohio.  After completing his internship, Aaron moved to Hawaii.

The allure of year-round sunshine was certainly a draw, but it was true love that brought Aaron to the Big Island.  He met Dr. Beth in vet school and married her in high Hawaiian style at a huge Hamakua luau.  Together, they took the reigns from previous Alii Vet owners, Dr. Tucker and his wife, Marilyn in 1998.

Dr. Aaron's special areas of interest are dentistry, orthopedic surgery, emergency medicine, and early behavior training. When out of the office, he loves playing basketball and working with friends at church.

Dr. Elizabeth Jose:

Dr. Beth was born and raised on the Big Island.  She went to St. Joseph School and the University of Hawaii in Hilo, then went on to Oregon State University's College of Veterinary Medicine.   In 1997, Dr. Beth completed a small animal internship in Columbus, Ohio, with advanced training in surgery, internal medicine, radiology, ophthalmology and dermatology. She honed her ultrasound skills both during and after school, and provides great diagnostic information for cases on a regular basis.

Dr. Aaron is Beth's partner in life.  They have seven furry children ...and counting!   She enjoys planning continuing ed classes for doctors and staff. Her role in quality control for our hospital helps ensure that patients receive outstanding care.

Dr. Maria Jose

Dr. Maria is Dr. Beth's sister.  She grew up in Paauilo, attended St. Joseph School and the University of Hawaii at Hilo, then went to Oregon State University's College of Veterinary Medicine.  After Beth whined to their parents about how HARD the first year of vet school was, Maria promptly came home with a 4.0 GPA!  She is smart and has a true love for the pets she works with. Dr. Maria also  cares for injured birds of prey - owls and the Hawaiian hawk are, sadly, often in need of help.

Dr. Maria spends her free time with her son, Ka'io. She has a passion for simple living, preserving our environment and caring for pets with special needs. Her furry family consists of:  D.D., the deaf dog; Annie, the dog with one kidney; Alex the dog saved from starvation, Clyde - the dog with bad hips...and the list goes on.
